Parking and Travel
The BYU Salt Lake Center is located on the third and fourth floors of 3 Triad Center in downtown Salt Lake City, Utah. Directions are easily accessible with Google Maps.
Convenient access to public transportation and parking means you’re never limited by distance at the BYU Salt Lake Center.

Free Parking
Student and visitor parking is located at 50 North 400 West in Salt Lake City.
Students are required to have a current BYU ID card to access parking. To enter and exit, hold the ID card to the card reader at the parking gate. Parking rules are enforced 24/7. The parking terrace is only for students attending classes or studying at the BYU Salt Lake Center. Do not use it for other purposes, such as for events nearby. Please see below for the complete parking rules.
Visitors will pull a ticket and may obtain a validation from the event coordinator, Academic Services, the Library, or the Testing Center.
Parking Rules
- Location: The student parking garage is located west of the BYU Salt Lake Center, with the vehicle entrance at 50 North 400 West (near the parking attendant booths). See map and photo below. Note: Do not park in the lot adjacent to the parking garage.
 - Access: Use your BYU ID card at the card readers to open the parking gates. Note: Students do not have access to other parking gates.
 - Important: Approach the parking lot northbound on 400 West or eastbound on 50 North. Left hand turns are not allowed from 400 West.
 
- Always carry your BYU student ID card to scan through parking and security gates.
 - Your BYU ID card is non-transferable; do not use it to allow others access to the garage.
 
- Forgotten ID: Return home to retrieve it.
 - Lost ID: Press the button at the parking entry gate to receive a timestamped ticket.
- Visit the Library for a replacement ID or parking validation.
 - At the exit gate, insert your time stamped ticket, then the validation to leave.
 - Lost tickets require payment to exit.
 
 
- Bike racks are located in the parking garage on level P3 in the northwest corner. Scooter and skateboard parking is also available.
 - Bring a U-lock to secure your bike.
 
- Use the North Temple Street drop-off zone (between the BYU Salt Lake Center and Ensign College).
 - If using student parking for drop-off/pick-up, there’s a 15-minute grace period.
- Press the button at the entry gate for a timestamped ticket.
 - Insert the ticket at the exit gate within 15 minutes to leave for free.
 - Staying beyond 15 minutes requires payment.
 
 
- Parking is only for students attending classes or studying at the BYU Salt Lake Center.
 - No overnight parking is allowed. Violators may face towing or vehicle immobilization at their expense.
 - Event parking at the Triad Center (e.g., for downtown venues like Abravanel Hall, Delta Center, Gateway Mall) is not free and requires payment.
 
- While there is generally sufficient parking, parking is first-come, first-served and is not guaranteed.
 - If the garage is full, use nearby public parking lots (fees may apply).
 - Consider using public transportation with your BYU ID card, which has a UTA Transit Pass.
 
- Lock your vehicle.
 - Remove valuables.
 - Use the buddy system when walking to and from the parking garage.
 
The parking garage owner/operator is not responsible for theft, vandalism, or damage to your vehicle.
Free Transportation Via UTA
Students with a current BYU ID card can travel free of charge to Salt Lake City using FrontRunner (secure eduroam WiFi available), TRAX, and buses. The UVX bus route (830X) can take you to either the Provo or Orem FrontRunner Station to kick off your journey.
FrontRunner Commuter Rail
Exit the train at the North Temple Station and walk one block east to the BYU Salt Lake Center.
TRAX Light Rail
The Green (West Valley/Airport) and Blue (Draper/Salt Lake Central) lines of TRAX stop at the Arena Station one block from the BYU Salt Lake Center.
Bus
Several buses have stops within one block of the BYU Salt Lake Center. Some stop at the corner of 300 West and North Temple Street, the northeast corner of the BYU Salt Lake Center’s block.
