BYU Salt Lake Center and its Security are committed to assisting all members of the BYU Salt Lake community in creating and maintaining a safe and secure campus. As part of these efforts, and in compliance with the Clery Act, BYU publishes a combined annual security and fire safety report for all BYU campuses. - Contact the Clery Compliance Coordinator at BYU Police by calling 801-422-0559
- and request a copy or
- request that a copy be mailed to you
The annual security report (ASR) contains information regarding campus security programs, emergency notification and response, and personal safety, including topics such as:
- Resources for crime prevention and awareness
- BYU police law enforcement authority
- How to report crimes
- Campus safety policies
- Other matters of importance related to security and safety on campus
- Fire safety
- Information about any campus fires
The ASR also contains information about crime statistics for the three previous calendar years concerning reported crimes that occurred on campus; in certain off-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by BYU and on public property within, or immediately adjacent to, and accessible from, the campus.
Reporting A Crime
The primary contact for reporting crimes is BYU Salt Lake Center Security. In an emergency please immediately call 911. For non-emergencies, you can call 801-240-2661.
Campus Security Authorities
A campus security authority is any official of an institution who has significant responsibility for student safety or campus activities, including, but not limited to, student housing, student discipline, and campus judicial proceedings. CSAs have a responsibility to report to BYU Salt Lake Center Security allegations of Clery Act crimes received while acting in their role as a CSA, and any imminent or ongoing threats to the campus community.
